CADM and Change Team Lead

Every day, we push the limits of what’s possible in space-based Earth Observation.

We are currently seeking a CADM and Change Team Lead.

As an UrtheCast CADM and Change Team Lead, you will responsible for managing and tracking information related to product lifecycle and workflow management processes and provides daily oversight of the Document Control System for all engineering-related projects to facilitate communication and collaboration.

Working with Administration, Engineering, Finance, IT and other cross-discipline teams including those external to the organization, this individual ensures that document management and change control processes are being followed, identifies and develops missing processes, and maintains the tools used for configuration and document management. They will be responsible for recognizing the implications of engineering change requests (ECR) and will ensure that the corresponding tasks and related workflow documents are managed. This individual possesses a high level of technical aptitude, knowledge of engineering processes and their applicability to current projects, and ensures the integrity of mission critical information and its impact on product, engineering workflow processes, systems and people.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILTIES: 

Product Lifecycle Management

  • Manage and track all information related to product processes and production data needed to design, produce, validate, support, maintain and deliver products
  • Work with the engineering teams to enter and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) into the PLM tool (Aras Innovator)
  • Manage the Engineering Change Request (ECR) process in the context of the product breakdown/BOM; Identify additional affected configuration items requiring change
  • Call and chair the Change Control Board (CCB) to approve ECRs and create subsequent Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) for approval
  • Distribute ECNs to teams and act as a champion of the change process by responding to queries as a single point of contact

Workflow Management

  • Reduce risk by understanding workflows including ECRs, ECNs, DCRs, and impact to business and engineering processes
  • Manage approvals and engineering change cycle times
  • Automate change requests, change notices and approvals processes and identify tools to manage engineering cycle times
  • Enable other users to complete steps in the workflow
  • Seek agreement from approvers
  • Be accountable to workflow status, including steps completed and remaining
  • Manage version control and an audit trail for documents throughout their lifecycle
  • Develop training programs on workflow processes and assist with on-boarding new staff

Document Control Activities

  • Leads individuals on the team and sets up document control system(s) including procedures, processes, templates, applications and tools for a project
  • Runs and administrates the document control system for a project or department acting as a gatekeeper on document control rules and procedure
  • Arbitrates and clarifies document control issues and acts as a first line of contact in the case of an escalation of a document control issue
  • Supports the team by initiating document template creation and maintenance, document cleanup and document change control, configuration management, system baseline support, baseline change control

Other duties as required

  • Ensures support for procurement, shipping receiving, engineering process and lab support as required

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors or Dilpoma in Engineering OR the equivalent in experience working in a technical environment
  • 3 years in a leadership role
  • 5-8 years of demonstrated experience and expertise in Document Control
  • Demonstrated understanding of Product Lifecycle Management and Workflow Management

Bonus:

  • Experience working with suppliers procuring engineering components
  • Experience working with remote staff and international teams
  • CMII certification

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

  • Advanced knowledge of PLM systems (ARAS Innovator preferred)
  • Advanced knowledge of Document Control Systems (Alfresco preferred)
  • Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and with Atlassian’s Confluence and other wikis
  • Direct experience processing and managing ECRs, ECNs, DCRs and other workflow documentation
  • Ability to design and develop departmental process improvement recommendations, written instructional materials, procedures and guidelines and metrics to measure document control output
  • Ability to follow instructions/schedules/timelines and be proactive and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Demonstrated ability to train and enable others in a positive and collaborative manner
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate with individuals at all levels
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • High technical aptitude

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Fast-paced, open-concept, always changing
  • Hours are typically 9:00am to 5:30pm
  • Travel is limited (for training purposes)
